I tend to read a lot about people having 3-5 different diseases and dying, but what is the record for the person carrying the most diseases at one given time?

I’ve never heard of having 3-5 diseases at the same time. I have read, though, that people can carry a certain “virus” and never get sick with it, such as bacterial meningitis, herpes (oral) virus, and a few other’s, but I can’t remember them offhand.

there isn.t a set maximum….someone could have a bunch of chronic (long term)diseases and them some bouts of acute (sudden) diseases

not sure if there is an answer to that. i work in health care and regularly see people w/ multiple diseases and diagnosis. depends on how you are really classifying diseases i guess. i have very often seen people >5 big diseases such as kidney disease, heart disease (different types), hypertension, diabetes, depression, reflux disease etc (all on one patient).
*** would be interesting to know if there is a worlds record though.. do you think Guinness has that category

Well if a person has HIV, Herpes, Lung cancer, colon cancer, kidney disease, liver disease, Lupus, lukemia, and so on… as long as the person is not far gone those can all happen to one person. It is very unlikely though but if you have HIV or AIDS full blown you can guarantee that the above can all happen quick like.
