What Sorts Of Diseases/conditions Can Be Diagnosed From A Dental Check Up?

I’ve heard that the mouth reveals a lot of information about a person’s overall health. Is it true that dentists can tell whether or not a person is likely to have HIV, or likely to have diabetes from a regular check up? What other sorts of diseases can dentists look out for?
Thank you.

James M hit it on the head. My Dad was a Dentist and saw what turned out to be oral cancer in its early stages. So open wide when you get in that chair, it might be a life saver.
